Resia
A quiet, unassuming town, Resia sits right on the Italian-Austrian border. As with most towns in this area it has a very Germanic feel to it with German the principal language spoken and written on road or shop signs.
The town is most famous for its gorgeous lake which sits beside its green pastures providing some breathtaking scenery. Further south along the lake and away from the town you'll find the incredible sight of a church steeple sticking out of the water. |
This Resia is not to be confused with the town of the same name in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. In fact when visiting myself the navigation system in the car didn't recognise this Resia so make sure you're heading in the right direction and maybe use one of the towns close by as your point of reference.
As a point of note, when I visited Resia I started the day in the town of Chioggia in Lombardy. To do so I had to drive first through Switzerland and then Austria which was a spectacular (if long) drive which didn't necessitate the purchase of either of those countries' vignettes (driving passes) as there was no motorway used.
